UNHS adds two new dentists

Dr. Christy Kopasz D.D.S. has been working with UNHS Dental for the past year-and-a-half as a contract provider, but she has recently agreed to practice in the new Montezuma Creek Clinic every Monday and Tuesday.

Dr. Kopasz was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and now resides in Rico, Colorado. When not practicing with UNHS, she’s an associate provider with a private practice in Telluride and Norwood, Colorado. She originally worked as a Dental Hygienist for fifteen years, having received her certification at the University of Colorado. Eventually she decided to take the plunge and become a full-time dentist. She returned to the University of Colorado to complete dental school. Following dental school, she completed a one-year residency in general practice at the Denver Health Hospital.

She met UNHS Dental Director, Dr. Brian Olsen, during a 3D X-Ray class and was eventually offered a position with UNHS. Dr. Kopasz has been pleased with her time at UNHS and appreciates the opportunity to work here.

“The staff here is very professional and caring,” she notes. “It’s a fun place to work and we have the best state-of-the-art equipment.”

Dr. Kopasz is a more than avid biker and loves riding mountain bikes with her 10-year-old son, in her spare time. She also enjoys gardening, reading and being with her son.

We are glad to have Dr. Kopasz as a member of the UNHS Dental team. If you haven’t had a chance to meet her yet, tell her hello the next time you see her.

Dr. Nathan Einerson D.M.D. graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in May of this year, after completing a four-year program, and began working with UNHS Dental at the end of July.

A native of Blanding, Dr. Einerson is the son of Dick and Dantzelle Einerson. He graduated from San Juan High School in 2009 and served a 2-year mission for the LDS Church in the Philippines. Upon returning from his mission, Einerson attended Southern Utah University. He received a Bachelors Degree in Human Nutrition with an emphasis in Allied Health. During his time at SUU, Dr. Einerson spent time shadowing UNHS dental providers and arranged to bring other SUU students on a visit to UNHS. His efforts allowed him receive the National Health Service Core Scholarship that helped him pay for his schooling.

Dr. Einerson is married to another Blanding native, Sagan Shumway, the daughter of Shane and Merry Shumway. They have a 3-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter. Dr. Einerson said he always planned to work with UNHS and is glad he made that decision. He will be practicing mostly at the Montezuma Creek Clinic Monday through Thursday and at Blanding Family Dental every other Friday. He will also be practicing as a floater in Monument Valley and Monticello at times for other Dental staff on vacation.

We are glad to welcome Dr. Einerson to the UNHS family and wish him all the best in his new position with UNHS Dental. When you see him around welcome him aboard.
